From One Jeep in 1990

Grizzly Safari began in Udawalawe in 1990 when D.G.S. Nishantha started operating with a single safari jeep. More than three decades later, that one vehicle has grown into a fleet of around 15 safari vehicles serving individual travelers, tour operators and some of Sri Lanka’s established travel companies.

Our roots remain here in Udawalawe. Our drivers are local, our vehicles are maintained here, and decades spent working around the national park have given our team an understanding of these roads and landscapes that can’t be learned from a guidebook.
